The Welsh Government has started consulting on proposed changes to Planning Policy Wales Chapter 6: The Historic Environment

A new act that will improve the protection of Wales’s scheduled monuments became law this week. The Historic Environment (Wales) Act will simplify and modernise the current scheduled monument consent procedure, making it easier for landowners to obtain consent and carry out small-scale works of maintenance and repair that have been agreed in advance with the Welsh government’s Historic Environment Service (Cadw).

The Environment (Wales) Act 2016 became law in Wales on 21 March, 2016. The act aims to enable the Welsh Government to help tackle environmental challenges it faces.

Transport minister Edwina Hart has announced nearly £29 million funding for transport schemes across Wales to improve safety, create economic growth and promote active travel.
